Recently, a friend of mine forwarded me an online contest about becoming a “Snowmama”. She mentioned that this group was “perfect” for me and that I should apply. Little did I know that just by applying to become a Snowmama would enter me into a social network of skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts that have now become my friends! I couldn’t help but feature this group on our EatPackGo.com site because it’s what every parent, uncle, aunt or grandparent needs when planning a family ski trip. They take care of you when it comes to what to pack, how to navigate through the ordeal of renting ski equipment, all the way to picking the right ski / snowboard school for your child (and yourself for that matter!).
For families making destination ski trips, it is often more important to know where the closest supply of diapers is as to know how many four-star restaurants there are in town. There are plenty of stories out there of couples who gave up their annual winter trips once children entered the picture. The 12 women, and one man, of Snowmamas hope to embolden parents to make those ski destination trips with tips, advice and support.
VIDEO: April Simpson interviews and skis with the newest (and only) male member of the group: Jeff Tuberville.

So proud of my Snowpapa friend, Jeff. Terrific explanation of what a Snowmama/Snowpapa is…. he embodies it! April, hope you had a great visit to PCMR.
When people ask me what my faovrite restaurant in the Vail Valley is, I have to say I don’t have one. It’s because there are so many. But when I tell them where I have had my best meal, I have to say Larkspur Restaurant in the Gold Peak area of Vail. I had wanted to try Larkspur, but I knew it was a special occasion type of place so we went on my birthday in February. We like to eat out, but we enjoy going to many different types of places. From the fast food to the Mom and Pop place to the 5* but I judge them on the same criteria; Atmosphere, Service and Food. Larkspur had it all the evening we went. It has a warm contemporary atmosphere with New American Cuisine. Now I have to tell you that we arrived half an hour late because of an accident on the highway, so we were aware that we should not linger to long. The servers were attentive but we never felt rushed, the food was beautifully presented, delicious and hot. (I love hot food). All 4 of us enjoyed everything we ordered. This restaurant is a little pricey but for a special occasion I would highly recommend it. Remember this is ski country so everything is casual, no suit and tie required here! There is Valet Parking, but we decided to walk from the main Vail parking lot because it was a beautiful evening. Park at the far-east side of the parking lot, where there is a door and a shorter walk to Golden Peak.
That WAS a lovely eveinng- we were well looked after and content waiting for you 2 in the bar. And that reminds me your next birthday is not far off!
Great video explaining what a fun community the Snowmamas are! So glad you’re a part of it and hope to ski with you someday soon!
Always ready for a good mountain!
